John Wayne's 1968 film 'The Green Berets' concludes on Danang beach where he too gazed at a wondrous sunset though one dipping eastward over the South China Sea. If Mr Wayne wanted a sunset he got one, no matter what the geography. I'm not keen on eastward setting suns because the view from the rear of my house is not so good.
Reflecting on this I thanked the heavens (literally) that JW is no longer with us.

Well, ah must say, he wuz goo' lookin' when he was young. But I never did get into that movie. I liked the westerns.
The Green Berets was right wing propaganda justifying the Vietnam War. And JW knew the sun does not set but rises over the South China Sea however he insisted the film concludes on a seaview sunset so he made the sun set in the East. Now that's propaganda for you.
We keep missing each other, or, you're not knocking on the door hard enough.
